This team has four players from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) due to some decent performances from local stars. Heartland defender Desmond Agbekpornu was impressive in defence as they got a 1-0 win at Nasarawa United. 

Charles Okafor (FC IfeanyiUbah/Nigeria) 

In defence is another NPFL star Charles Okafor who was solid for FC IfeanyiUbah who held newcomers Go Round FC to a goalless draw in Omoku, Rivers State.

Kenneth Omeruo (Leganes/Spain)

Omeruo played the whole 90 minutes as Leganes were beaten 1-3 by Barcelona at Nou Camp and despite being on the losing side, the Super Eagles defender makes the team on his individual display in the game. Omeuro led the Leganes stubborn defence that frustrated Luis Suarez and Barcelona for the large part of the game.

Arsenal loanee Kelechi Nwakali continues to impress for at Porto B. The Nigerian midfielder impressed in the game, showing glimpses of his talent to help his team to a 2-0 win. He features as a wing-back in this XI.

Iwuala Anayo (Kada City/Nigeria) 

Anayo was one of Kada City’s best players as they kicked off their NPFL campaign with a 2-1 home win over Gombe United. 

Oghenekaro Etebo (Stoke City/England)

Nigerian midfielder got his first start under new Stoke City manager Sam Clucas and showed what he can do in midfield during their 2-1 win over Championship leaders Leeds United.

Nigerian forward Samuel Kalu was the man for Bordeaux, setting up their winner and the only goal in the 1- o win over Dijon. Kalu was included in the official Ligue 1 Team of the Weekend which includes the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.

Jerry Mbakogu (Padova/Italy)

Nigerian striker Jerry Mbakogu grabbed a brace for Padova in their Serie B 3-0 home win over Verona. 

Samuel Nnochiri (Heartland FC/Nigeria)

16-year-old Nnochiri grabbed local headlines this weekend after scoring Heartland FC’s only and winning goal in their away win over Nasarawa United.
