"Only Jokić is Untouchable in Denver!"

Jonas Valančiūnas has once again hinted at a potential NBA departure this summer, eyeing a return to European basketball. The Lithuanian center, who served as Nikola Jokić's backup in Denver last season, confirmed ongoing discussions with European clubs, but emphasized that the final decision rests with the Nuggets.

The experienced Lithuanian big man was on the verge of joining Panathinaikos last summer but ultimately remained in the NBA, completing his 14th season.

"I've attracted attention… Yes, there have been discussions with one team, as well as with a Lithuanian club. Talks have happened, and we'll decide, but the final word rests with Denver," Jonas Valančiūnas stated.

He clarified that everything hinges on Denver's plans for the upcoming season.

"Primarily, it depends on whether they trade me, keep me, or neither. It all depends on them."

Lithuanian outlet BasketNews also reported a portion of his statement regarding the club's intentions.

"For now, I think the biggest question for them is what kind of roster they're planning, meaning who stays and who goes. As far as I understand, only Nikola remains untouchable, while everything else is subject to change."

Valančiūnas has a player option to extend his contract with Denver for another year, which would be worth $10 million, but he anticipates a resolution soon.

"I think everything will come to light in the first week of July, perhaps even sooner."

According to BasketNews, Žalgiris has already submitted an offer to the Lithuanian national team captain – a two-year contract valued at two million euros per season. Denver concluded their season with a first-round playoff elimination against Minnesota, and Valančiūnas averaged 8.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in just over 13 minutes per game during the regular season.
