On the one-year anniversary of the tragic passing of Diogo Jota and his brother, André Silva, numerous clubs paid tribute to the players. Among them was Liverpool, Jota's former club, which dedicated a memorial to both siblings near Anfield.
“Today, as every day, we remember Diogo Jota and André Silva, who tragically left us a year ago. Through immeasurable loss and untold grief, the impact they had and the legacies they left behind — not just in the world of football, but in the hearts and minds of so many people worldwide — have shone brightly over the past 12 months. All our love, support, thoughts, and prayers remain with the families, friends of Diogo and André, and all those whose lives they touched. Forever in our hearts, forever our number 20,” read a statement from the Reds.
FC Porto also paid tribute on social media. “Immortal by right” and “the longing of the Porto family is eternal” were the captions accompanying the blue and white club's posts, which emphasized: “Diogo and André. Forever in the hearts of all Porto fans.”
Wolverhampton Wanderers, the English club Diogo Jota previously represented, remembered the forward on social media: “It's one year today since the tragic loss of Diogo and his brother André. We will never forget you, Diogo.”
The Premier League's official account also dedicated a message to the Portuguese player: “A year ago, football lost Diogo Jota and his brother André. The special memories Diogo left in the Premier League and Portuguese football will forever be celebrated by the fans he inspired around the world.”
