After three intense games, filled with tension and drama in the final, Olympiacos has been crowned European champions. It almost felt scripted – they achieved this feat on the court of the OAKA Arena, the home ground of their biggest rivals, Panathinaikos.

May, Athens, brilliant basketball, and ultimately, a championship title for their team. It seems Olympiacos fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief – 13 years of waiting, marked by numerous painful defeats, have finally ended, and the trophy is once again in the display cabinets of the Piraeus giants.

This Time, They Didn't Crumble Under Pressure

For some time now, Olympiacos has been labeled as the team with the weakest mentality in Europe, at least among the top contenders.

Oly has consistently reached the final stages; this was their fifth consecutive appearance in the top tournament, but the trophy eluded them year after year. There were painful losses, like the one in Kaunas, when Llull hit the game-winner for Real's trophy, or Vaso Micić's shot in the semifinal clash in Belgrade.

Since 2013, Olympiacos had always found themselves on the wrong side of big games. This time, however, was different. Under the brightest lights, with immense pressure and playing on what was effectively a rival's home court, and despite Real's injuries providing an alibi for the Madrid side, Olympiacos did not falter.

The Reds hit the crucial shots when the game was on the line, something that had eluded them for many years. Beyond the key players, those from the second unit also stepped up, proving that Olympiacos is indeed the best team, boasting the deepest bench. This, too, was not an issue in the decisive matches, unlike in some past seasons.

Olympiacos endured immense pressure, withstood everything, and ultimately reached the throne. There's no doubt, the Piraeus side was the best in the Old Continent this year. First place in the regular season, an easy progression through the quarterfinals, and then two triumphs in the final tournament – no one can dispute this title.

Perhaps It's Time to Learn from Olympiacos' Example

After the game, Sergio Scariolo addressed the media, highlighting a remarkable fact. The Real Madrid coach pointed out that Giorgos Bartzokas has been with the club for years, had the opportunity to build a core of players, and ultimately led them to a title. The question is, can our eternal rivals emulate the European champions?

Bartzokas endured everything. The media 'sacked' him multiple times, and year after year, he fell short at the very end. In the three seasons before the Athens tournament, Olympiacos finished on the podium three times. However, never in the top spot that truly leaves a lasting memory.

However, the time for reckoning finally arrived. All the years of suffering, tough losses, and sadness for the club's fans were repaid in the OAKA Arena. It was as if someone had already written the script.

This group of players has been through all the good and bad, all the ups and downs, in recent years. For that, they were rewarded with success in front of their fans, on a night that few will ever forget.

Patience paid off, for who knows how many times, and Bartzokas and the team brought the trophy back to Oly's display cases. Perhaps it's time we learn from the best.
