Michael Olise has surpassed Pelé's record for the most assists in a single World Cup tournament.

Olise registered seven assists at the 2026 World Cup, breaking Pelé's record of six goal-creating passes at the 1970 World Cup. Opta's World Cup statistics have been tracked since the 1966 tournament.

Olise now holds the third-best record for assists in a single World Cup edition in history.

Ahead of him are only Raymond Kopa with 8 assists at the 1958 World Cup and Fritz Walter with 8 assists from the 1954 World Cup. Even more impressively, five of Olise's seven assists were for Kylian Mbappé, setting a new record for the most goal-creating passes from one player to another within a single World Cup during this period.

Only one match remains in the 2026 World Cup, also scheduled for today, July 19th (Sunday), where Argentina and Spain will face off in the grand final at 10:00 PM Bulgarian time. This match, along with all 104 games from the global championship across the USA, Canada, and Mexico, can be watched live on bnt.sportal.bg.
