The Supreme Court has ordered the trial of former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh to continue.
Metuh had been charged to a Federal High Court in Abuja based on the charges of money laundering and fraud brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) before he filed an application at the Supreme Court for an order of stay of proceedings of his trial.
The application was filed as an attempt to challenge an earlier ruling by the Court of Appeal which upheld Justice Okon Abang’s dismissal of the defendant’s no-case submission.
His trial before Justice Abang had been adjourned until June 19 to await the Supreme Court's decision.
With the decision on Friday, Metuh's trial is set to continue.
Metuh was arrested by the EFCC in January 5, 2016 in connection with an arms deal involving former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki.
