In a statement, the Famalicão club expressed gratitude to the 47-year-old coach, who was under contract until 2028:

Futebol Clube de Famalicão – Futebol SAD announces that the release clause in the employment contract linking coach Hugo Oliveira to Futebol Clube de Famalicão has been exercised. As a result, the coach will continue his career at Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace. To the coach and the members of his technical staff, the Futebol Clube de Famalicão SAD extends its thanks for the dedication and professionalism they consistently demonstrated in service to this institution, wishing them the greatest personal and professional success.

Concurrently, Strasbourg also welcomed their new coach, highlighting his achievements at Famalicão: «Recognized as one of European football's most promising emerging coaches, Hugo Oliveira favors an offensive and modern playing style, known for his ability to develop players. His teams are distinguished by their desire to take the initiative, through ball possession dominance, controlling the tempo, and intense pressing to quickly regain the ball.»

After several seasons as a goalkeeper coach on Marco Silva's technical staff, Hugo Oliveira took on his first head coaching role at Famalicão. He led the club to the brink of European competition last season, finishing 5th in the league. However, the extra European spot for Portugal went to Torreense, who defeated Sporting in the Portuguese Cup final. Had Sporting won, Famalicão would have qualified for the Conference League qualifiers.
