Spanish coach Luis García Plaza is set to take the reins at Sevilla, succeeding Argentine Matías Almeyda. The LaLiga club announced on Tuesday that Plaza has signed a contract valid until June 30, 2027. The 53-year-old Madrid-born manager arrives at the Sánchez-Pizjuán after departing Alavés in December 2024.

On their official website, Sevilla highlighted Luis García Plaza's extensive career, which includes managing 229 LaLiga matches and stints with both Spanish and international clubs. The former player was forced to retire at 27 due to a severe injury, subsequently beginning his coaching journey at the age of 30 with Altea.

The coach made a significant impact at Levante, now managed by Luís Castro, where he secured promotion to the top flight and ensured their survival the following season. This success led to a move to Getafe, a club where he became the longest-serving manager in LaLiga during that period.

His career also includes international experience, with spells in the United Arab Emirates, China, and Saudi Arabia. Upon returning to Spain, he guided Mallorca to promotion in 2020 and later repeated the feat with Alavés, also securing the club's place in LaLiga.
