Aston Villa announced on Friday the signing of Johan Manzambi from German club Freiburg, in a deal reportedly worth £52 million (approximately €61 million).
One of the standout revelations of the 2026 World Cup, the 20-year-old Swiss midfielder was reportedly close to an agreement with Newcastle. However, the Villans swooped in, securing the player for Birmingham on a five-year contract with last season's UEFA Europa League winners.
Manzambi delivered stellar performances at the biggest international tournament, following an impressive spell in Germany where he notched seven goals and six assists in 47 appearances. At the World Cup, he scored twice against Bosnia (4-1) and once against Canada (2-1), while also providing two assists.
