After 14 full years, Željko Obradović returned to the Panathinaikos bench in the EuroLeague, starting his tenure with a triumphant win. The Serbian tactician spoke with Serbian media after the match against Paris.

Panathinaikos secured a comfortable 91-72 victory over Paris in their EuroLeague opener. Following the match, head coach Željko Obradović spoke with Serbian media, emphasizing his team's fighting spirit.

We already played a tournament in honor of Mr. Pavlos Giannakopoulos. Thanks to everyone who came and gave us such a welcome... of course, the team was and always will be the priority.Željko Obradović

He then reiterated the immense desire within the squad.

There was no pressure because we're working well, and the players are behaving exceptionally. They played with maximum seriousness and fighting spirit. There were dips in our performance, but the overall impression is that there's immense desire. That was evident in all our preseason games and in tonight's match. I believe this is the path we need to continue on.Željko Obradović

Obradović noted that Panathinaikos is not yet at its peak.

No. We're not even close, as we've only had about ten training sessions, and that's reflected in the fluctuations in our play. We lack automatisms, especially in offense. We conceded some easy baskets defensively, but I repeat, when you have the desire and the fighting spirit is at the level it was, then it's incomparably better.Željko Obradović

Finally, Obradović revealed that he still has a tremendous passion for coaching, even in his 35th season.

As someone who deeply loves my profession, the court is my sanctuary, so... Dedication, you always have to be dedicated, and when you love something, it's easy to be dedicated.Željko Obradović
