Nuggets Finally Show Signs of Life, Bringing in Three Reinforcements for Jokić: Help Arrives in the Paint, Along with EuroLeague's Best Defender

The most notable name in this wave of Denver's reinforcements is undoubtedly Marvin Bagley III, a center arriving from Dallas. NBA fans might remember him as the player Vlade Divac, then-general manager of Sacramento, selected as the second pick in the 2018 draft, ahead of Luka Dončić. Hindsight is 20/20...

Since 2022, Bagley has played for Detroit, Washington, Memphis, and then Washington again, with his last stop before Denver being Dallas. It is expected that Bagley will step into the shoes of Jonas Valančiūnas (who left for Žalgiris) and relieve some of the pressure on Nikola Jokić at the center position.

As for Alpha Diallo, this marks his first NBA contract, despite being 31 years old. He has finally managed to cash in on five excellent seasons with Monaco and his reputation as one of the EuroLeague's top defenders for years. In fact, he arrives in the NBA as the reigning Best Defender of Europe's elite competition.

Although he had more lucrative offers (Dubai reportedly wanted to bring him over along with Okobo and Blossomgame), Diallo couldn't resist the call of the NBA. Last season, he averaged 11.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game.

Finally, there's Trevon Brazile, a rookie from the University of Arkansas. He was drafted this spring by the San Antonio Spurs but is now quickly moving to the Rocky Mountains.

The Nuggets acquired the 35th pick from this year's draft in exchange for two second-round picks and the rights to Tarris Reed Jr. Brazile, standing at 6'10", plays both small forward and power forward. Last season in college, he averaged 13 points and 7.3 rebounds while shooting 52.5% from the field. Of course, the NBA is a completely different universe, so it remains to be seen how he will adapt.

He became the first player in his college's history to record more than 40 three-pointers, 40 blocks, and 40 steals in a single season, suggesting Denver plans to develop him into a top-tier defender.

With these three acquisitions, Denver's roster looks much improved, deeper, and, above all, defensively stronger. However, it's clear that if the Nuggets want to build a championship team around Nikola Jokić, they will also need to bring in a more offensively potent name.
