Not Moses Wright, but a Proven EuroLeague Force: Barcelona Officially Confirms Elite Center Signing

Barcelona has officially announced a significant reinforcement in the paint ahead of the upcoming season. The Catalan club has signed a three-year contract with Josh Nebo, keeping the powerful center with Barça until the end of the 2028/29 season.

"I'm incredibly excited to start this new chapter. I'm here to win. I want to contend for titles in both the ACB League and the EuroLeague. That's my sole objective," Josh Nebo stated to the club's media after successfully completing his medical examinations. "When I think of this club, the first thing that comes to mind is a winning culture. Every year, they fight for the playoffs and compete for a spot in the Final Four. I believe I can bring defensive toughness, rebounding, strong finishes at the rim, as well as leadership and character. I hope the fans create a spectacular atmosphere, cheer us on loudly, and are excited. I truly can't wait to play in front of them." Josh Nebo

Barcelona Secures Proven EuroLeague Force

Nebo arrives in Barcelona after a two-year stint with Olimpia Milan. In his last EuroLeague campaign, the 28-year-old center averaged 10.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.

The upcoming season will mark his sixth in the elite competition, having spent a year with Žalgiris Kaunas and two seasons with Maccabi Tel Aviv before joining Milan.

Across 136 EuroLeague games, Nebo has averaged 9.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, and a performance index rating of 13.7, establishing himself as one of the most reliable rebounders and interior finishers in the entire competition.

Nebo also acquired Slovenian citizenship in 2024. Thanks to this, he will not occupy a non-EU player slot in the Spanish league, providing Barcelona with additional roster flexibility for the ACB League.

Wright's Barcelona Move Falls Through

Although Moses Wright's arrival seemed all but finalized months ago, the American center will reportedly now join Olimpia Milan instead of Barcelona, according to Eurohoops.

It had been known since March that Wright would become a new member of the Catalan club, and the player himself recently confirmed he would continue his career in Barcelona. However, his debut in the Blaugrana jersey will not happen.

Reports indicate that Olimpia will activate a buyout clause in his contract, paying 900,000 euros for the transfer. Barcelona will receive compensation but will lose a player they had planned for a key role in the paint.
