The Norwegian capital's streets were packed with cheering and chanting crowds in front of the Royal Palace, as fans lauded the efforts of the national team in their first World Cup appearance in decades.

"It always stings to lose, obviously, but this summer was filled with so much football, and we united the nation," said Eskil Møller Jørslien, a Norwegian fan.

England advanced to the World Cup semifinals on Saturday, defeating Norway 2-1 in Miami Gardens, Florida, thanks to two goals from Jude Bellingham.
