Like many other players' wives, De Weerd traveled with her children to the United States and Mexico to support her partner during the World Cup. After the Dutch national team was eliminated by Morocco in a penalty shootout last Tuesday, she decided it wasn't time to head home just yet.
Instead of flying back to the Netherlands, De Weerd, along with her children, decided to travel on to Suriname in South America. In her Instagram story, she shared a photo of their two sons enjoying a drink in the capital, Paramaribo. It remains unknown whether Lang – who himself has Surinamese roots – was present, or if he traveled elsewhere after the elimination. Lang is expected to rejoin the Napoli squad shortly.
Relationship
Thirty-year-old De Weerd and Lang met through social media. When the 26-year-old footballer was still playing for Jong Ajax, he took the plunge and sent his current partner a message. Lang was living in Rotterdam at the time, and De Weerd in Amsterdam.
Their first date was dinner at her place after one of the footballer's training sessions. Lang was 19 at the time, and De Weerd was 23. De Weerd already had a one-year-old daughter from a previous relationship. Lang and De Weerd have now been together for years and form a family of five, as they also have two sons together, aged three and two.
