Nnamdi Kanu the popular Nigerian separatist has been handed a boost ahead of the 2022 UEFA Champions League final.

Kanu who is in prison for terrorism and treasonable felony has stated that he is a Liverpool fan.

The 54-year-old who was born in Abia State, South East Nigeria has been imprisoned since last year.

At the hearing for bail, Kanu was given special privileges by the Judge in charge.

According to a report by the BBC News, Kanu was given permission to watch the Champions League final between Premier League giants Liverpool and La Liga powerhouse Real Madrid.

The statement by the BBC explained that Kanu, the judge Mrs Nyako and his lawyer Mike Ozekhome are all Liverpool fans hence the permission to watch the European football final.

Asked what team he supported, Kanu who was , standing upright in the dock, responded, “My team is Liverpool even from age of seven."

The Judge also a Liverpool fan told the prison representative that Kanu should be allowed to watch the final between Real Madrid and Liverpool.

She said, “You must allow the defendant to watch the matches any day they are playing."

Kanu who is the leader of the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) group was elated with the news.

The UEFA Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid is scheduled to take place at the Stade de France, Saint-Denis on Saturday, May 28, 2022.
