Nikola Jokic Set to Sign NBA's Largest-Ever Contract, Including Special Clause!
Nikola Jokic has opted, for now, not to extend his contract with the Denver Nuggets. By waiting another year, the Serbian center stands to gain an additional $80 million compared to if he had finalized the deal now.
He is expected to sign a five-year deal in the summer of 2027, reportedly worth nearly $360 million.
"It will be the richest contract in NBA history," stated American journalist Kevin O'Connor.
According to O'Connor, this new contract is also anticipated to include a "no-trade clause."
In practical terms, this means the Nuggets would be unable to trade him unless Jokic approves a potential move to another team.
Nikola himself has also spoken about his future contract.
"My idea and my wish are to stay in Denver forever. I'll probably sign next year. It's strictly business. My desire is to play in Denver for the rest of my life; it's up to them whether they offer me a contract or not," Jokic said.
