Here are all the albums we are waiting on to drop in 2016

We have already been graced with a number of albums in 2016 with each album being greeted with mixed reviews. Lil Kesh’s “Y.A.G.I”, Kiss Daniel’s “New Era”, Patoranking’s ”God Over Everything”, Yemi Alade’s “Mama Africa” and Adekunle Gold’s “Gold”, among others have been released, with many others being anticipated to drop for the remainder of 2016.

Here are the albums we anticipate the release of.

Modenine – “Insulin”

The lyricist has dropped a couple of singles, two being officially expected on his fifth album, which is scheduled for release today Tuesday August 16, 2016. The gifted rapper reportedly revealed the album would be his last personal project. The rapper’s album discography include Earlier albums include E' Pluribus Unum "One Amongst Many" -2006, “ The Paradigm Shift”  -2008, “ Da Vinci Mode”  -2010, and “  Above Ground Level “ – 2014.

Reminisce – “El Hadj”

The ‘Kako bi chicken’ rapper will be releasing his fourth studio album titled “El Hadj” on August 29, 2016. The rapper has released two singles – ‘Asalamalekun’ and ‘ Nobody knows’ featuring 2baba, to whet our appetite for the new album.

The album follows "Book of Rap stories"(2012), "Alaga Ibile"( 2013), and "Baba Hafusa"(2015).

Reekado Banks – Unknown title

The Mavin act who currently holds the title for Headies Next Rated artist,  awarded to him on the first day of the year 2016 has perhaps been the most vocal about releasing his debut album this year, bragging that it’ll be the best album we will hear in a long time. He is yet to unveil the album artwork, title and release date, so we’d just wait it out in anticipation.

Banky W –  “Songs about You and Me” or “Songs About You”

The R&B King of the Lagos party has also said he would be releasing an album in second or third quarter of 2016, building on the previous four ‑ “Back in the building “(2005), “Mr Capable”(2008), “The W Experience”(2009) and “R&BW” (2013). He revealed the working title to be either “Songs about You and Me” or “Songs About You”.

Iyanya – Unknown title

The ‘Kukere’ crooner has also expressed his intent to release an album expectedly in 2016, following “My Story” (2009), “Desire”(2013) and “Applaudise”(2015). The singer will be releasing the project under a new record label Temple Management Company following his exit from MMMG label. The singer revealed he is embarking on a new direction album but his fans should still expect the same quality and energy from him. With singles like ‘My woman’, and ‘Heartbeat’ released this year, it looks like the singer is going back to his R&B roots for the album.

Shaydee – “S.O.S”

E.M.E gifted singer is also expected to drop his debut album in 2016, titled “SOS”. The singer told Pulse Nigeria that the album would reflect his personal experiences, and will feature a lot of A-list acts - Reminisce, Banky W, Niyola, Iyanya, 2baba, Wizkid, Phyno, Flavour, Ice Prince, Burna Boy and more. The 21-track album will contain a mix of trap, R&B, House, reggae and  Afro beat. Singles like ‘Smile’ and ‘Pon de floor’ pre-released give us a feel of what to expect from the album, which the smooth singer said with high hopes will speak for him and stand the test of time.

Sound Sultan – “Out of the box”

Naija ninja singer Sound Sultan who has got six albums to his name is on the verge of dropping his seventh studio album in 2016 titled “Out of the box”.

The gifted musician has dropped singles like ‘Kuku no worry’, ‘Hello baale’ and the more recent ‘African lady’ featuring Phyno and Flavour.  From the album title, and singles already released, we can only expect more interesting sounds on the album when it gets out.

Niyola – Unknown title

The E.M.E first lady singer has discussed in an interview with Pulse Nigeria a possible release of her debut album in 2016.  The ‘Toh bad’ singer has released the lead single for the album whose title she is yet to reveal. She tells Pulse TV that only until when she’s fully immersed her essence into the music will she able to satisfactorily release the album. Fingers crossed that happens in 2016.

Simi - Unknown title

The likeable singer revealed to Pulse Nigeria she will be dropping her sophomore album in 2016.  She however said she and rapper Falz plan on releasing a joint EP titled “Chemistry” that is supposed to serve as a precursor to the album. The album is to follow her debut gospel album “Ogaju”. ‘Jamb question’, ‘Open and close’ and ‘Love don’t care’ are some of the singles expected on the forthcoming album.

T.R – “Blame Hip hop”

Veteran rapper TR formerly known as Terry tha Rapman will be dropping his fourth album titled “Blame Hip hop” following the release of his “G.O.D” EP. ''Blame Hip-hop'' represents the fourth album after ''Tha Rapmanifestation''(2001), ''Tha Rapman Beginz'' (2007), and ''Boys are not smilin'' (2011).  The emcee recently put up an inspirational single out featuring Skales titled ‘Edumare’.

Eva – “1960”

One of the most gifted Nigerian female rappers in the game killing it. Eva surprisingly till now is yet to bless us with an album to her name, pushing mixtapes and EPs in our faces so as to still stay top in her fans’ memories. Eva however indicated that the full length body of work was to drop on August 13, 2016. That date has passed. We await to see what the coming days bring.

Ice Prince – “Jos to the World”

Mr Oleku is working on releasing what would be his third studio album “Jos to the World” follows "Everybody loves Ice Prince"(2011) and "Fire of Zamani" (2013). The rapper has dropped a number of singles pre-album release. Tracks like ‘Feelings’, ‘Seasons’ and the most recent a teaser unofficial video of on of the singles off the album titled ‘Teardrops’ has done about enough to whet the appetite of fans for the album.

Cynthia Morgan  - Unknown title

Dancehall singer Cynthia Morgan is also billed to drop her debut album in 2016. Having released a couple of singles – ‘Bubble bup’ featuring Stonebwoy, ‘Baby mama’ and ‘Olowo’, the ‘I’m taken’ singer shows promise of a classic dancehall album in the making.

Phyno – "Playmaker"

The Obago singer’s sophomore album has been titled “The Playmaker”, a follow up to his sebut 2014 album “No Guts No Glory”. The album will feature the likes of 2baba, Timi Dakolo, Olamide and Cynthia Morgan among others. The indigenous act has already dropped singles off the album which have met rave reviews – ‘Fada Fada’ and ‘E sure for me (Olisa doo)’ are the singles banging in the streets and airwaves.

Wizkid – "Sounds from the other side"

The star boy who has been nothing but phenomenal this year has also come out to say he’ll be dropping his third album and first album under his Starboy imprint.

The album is set to feature quite a number of international music stars such as American R’n’B stars, Chris Brown Trey Songz, Ty Dolla $ign, and British-Nigerian rapper; Tinie Tempah and Beninise Grammy award winning act Angelique Kidjo amongst others.

Blackface - "The Defender"

The ex-Plantashun boiz singer and songwriter after five years has revealed he will dropping an album soon titled “The Defender”.  The singer has been in the middle of controversies this year, accusing other artistes of stealing his songs, calling out radio DJs for favoritism in airplay amongst other issues.

"The Defender" will be sequel to “Ghetto Child” (2007), “Evergreen” (2007), “Jungle Fever, Me, Musiq and I” (2008), and  “Dancehall Business” (2010).

Olamide - Unknown title

According to sources, YBNL lead rapper Olamide is set to drop his sixth studio album No title was however given. It was also learnt that tracks like 'Abule sowo', 'I love Lagos' and 'Konkobility' may not make the cut on the album. The ‘Shakiti bobo’ rapper came into the music scene on releasing his debut album "Rapsodi" in 2011 under ID Cabasa's Coded Tunes and has since gone on to release four other albums under his own label Y.B.N.L Nation. namely "YBNL"(2012), "Baddest Guy Ever Liveth"(2013), "Street OT"(2014), and a surprise "Eyan Mayweather" album in 2015.

He also has a compilation album with fellow indigenous rapper Phyno titled "2 kings" released in 2015.

The rapper has had consistency going on for him since he came into the game in 2011.  So it shouldn’t be surprising to see another album from the hardworking ‘Baddo’ roll out in 2016.

Solidstar - "W.E.E.D"

Achievas Entertainment act is reportedly going to drop an album titled “Weed”. The album will be his third following “Grace and Glory” his sophomore album popular for songs like ‘Oluchi’ featuring Flavour and ‘Omotena’ and his debut album “One in a million” which had the lead track also titled ‘One in a million’ that was remixed with 2face Idibia.

W.E.E.D is an acronym for ‘witnessing everything exceptionally different’ and the date of release has been slated for September.

Songs like ‘Negotiate’, ‘Baby jollof’, ‘My body’, ‘In my head’ and the recent hit ‘Wait’, have all received  good buzz  across several media platforms.

He has collaborated with acts like Tiwa Savage, Timaya, Davido, Ycee, Patoranking, 1DA, and Charass.

9ice - Unknown title

Alapomeji Ancestral Records act is also reported to release his eight studio album in 2016 though no concrete evidence such as an album title and artwork or an official statement from the indigenous singer has surfaced. He however has dropped a number of singles such as ‘Pariboto’ and  ‘Aunty’ .

9ice’s albums till date include “Certificate” (2007), “Gongo Aso” (2008), “Tradition” (2009), “Versus” (2011), “Bashorun Gaa” (2011), “Deluxe Version Versus & Bashorun Gaa” (2011), and “CNN/GRA” (2014).

CDQ - "Quality"

The rapper has revealed the official release date for his debut album titled "Quality" to be August 22, 2016.

His well known singles 'Salaro' and 'Oobi' are expected to make the cut for the album. The indigenous fans of the ''Woss'' rapper would be excited about this development.

Harrysong - "Spontaneous"

Mr Songz has revealed he will be releasing a sophomore album titled "Spontaneous". No clue as to whether it will be released in 2016 yet though.

The album will feature top music acts including Kcee, Patoranking, M.I Abaga, Seyi Shay, Yemi Alade, Duncan Mighty among others.

Harrysong dropped his debut album "Testify" in 2012 under Question Mark/51 Lex Records. Mr Songz signed to E-Money's Five Star Music in 2012 where he has since been flourishing more.

The songwriter and singer has released a number of singles from the hit song 'Reggae Blues' in 2015 to 2016 singles such as  'Baba for the girls' , 'Aka gum' and 'Ladder' featuring Skiibii among others.

Yung6ix - Unknown title

The controversial but talented rapper after releasing his EP "Billionaire Ambitions" is setting the stage for his sophomore album with the recent release of the single 'The man' off it.

He has also revealed he will be collaborating with Davido on a single to come off the new album. The sophomore album follows his debut "6ix O clock" album released in 2014.

Others include Vector "Lafiaji", A-Q " Rose", illBliss "illygati" and Jesse Jagz "Odysseus".
