Newcastle's New Boss Brings in Familiar Face: "I've Worked with Him Since He Was Young"
Dedić marks the sixth summer signing for the English club. He previously played under coach Matthias Jaissle at both Red Bull Salzburg and Liefering. “The opportunity to work with Matthias again was a crucial factor for me. We know each other well; he understands what I can bring to the pitch, and I’m thrilled to play under his guidance once more,” Dedić was quoted as saying on the club’s official website.
“I’m delighted to welcome Amar to our team. He’s a player I know very well. I worked with him in Austria from a young age and have followed his career ever since,” stated manager Jaissle. Jaissle joined the team this month, having previously won the Austrian Cup and two domestic titles. In the last two seasons, he also celebrated triumph in the AFC Champions League with Al-Ahli.
“Amar will bring quality to our squad, both defensively and offensively, which aligns with the style of football we aim to play. He is athletic, aggressive, and technically very gifted, yet still has significant room for further development,” Jaissle added.
Dedić represents Bosnia and Herzegovina, though he was born in Austria and spent his youth career at Graz and Red Bull Salzburg, where he won a title with his now-reunited coach. He has made 31 appearances for the national team, including three at this year’s World Cup.
