Newcastle United has announced the signing of defender Amar Dedić from Benfica. The Magpies are set to pay approximately £30 million for the player. Dedić will sign a five-year contract with his new club.
At St. James' Park, the Bosnia and Herzegovina international will reunite with head coach Matthias Jaissle, with whom he won the Austrian title in 2023 during their time together at RB Salzburg.
“It’s a special feeling, and a great honor for me to join Newcastle. I’m very happy to be here and can’t wait to start playing for the team and in front of the incredible fans. Working with Matthias was a significant factor for me. We know each other well. He understands my qualities,” stated Dedić, who celebrates his 24th birthday today.
