The upcoming UFC Vegas 124 card has a new headliner. Heavyweights Waldo Cortes-Acosta (17-4) and Johnny Walker (23-10) are set to clash next Saturday at the Meta Apex, sources confirmed to MMA Fighting.

The short-notice bout was first reported by Laerte Viana on X. Due to the late change, it has yet to be determined whether the fight will be scheduled for three or five rounds.

The lineup reshuffle comes after the originally planned welterweight main event fell through. Sean Brady suffered an injury and had to withdraw from his scheduled bout against Gabriel Bonfim. As a result, Bonfim has also been removed from the card and will be rescheduled for a future event.

Cortes-Acosta will be looking for a crucial victory to snap a two-fight losing skid following decision defeats against Curtis Blaydes and Alexander Volkov. Prior to that, he was on an impressive 8-1 run that pushed him into the division's top 10, highlighted by knockout wins over Derrick Lewis, Shamil Gaziev, and Ante Delija.

Meanwhile, longtime light heavyweight staple Johnny Walker made a statement in his move up to heavyweight in October, delivering a spectacular knockout victory with a knee against Mick Parkin at UFC 332.
