Spanish champions Barcelona secured a 5-2 away victory over Basel in their penultimate pre-season friendly. Most of the goals came in the closing minutes of the match, with four of the Catalan giants' strikes attributed to their new signings.
Barça thoroughly outplayed their opponents throughout the game, deservedly claiming the win. The scoring opened in the 34th minute when Karim Adeyemi received a pass from captain Raphinha in a prime position, netting his debut goal for the 'Blaugrana' with a well-placed shot. Nine minutes later, the hosts managed to equalize through a powerful strike from Jean Doukoure.
However, Hansi Flick's side regained their lead in the 49th minute. Hamza Abdelkarim scored from close range after an assist from Adeyemi. This marked the 18-year-old forward's third goal in pre-season since joining Barcelona.
The next two goals in the match came from penalties. Substitute Lamine Yamal extended the Catalans' lead in the 81st minute, but only three minutes later, Basel's substitute Kazim Olaigbe pulled one back for his side, also from the spot.
The final two goals of the encounter were scored by Barcelona's newest acquisition, 18-year-old midfielder Jesse Bisivu, who also entered the pitch as a substitute. In the 89th minute, he found the net with a superb long-range effort following an assist from fellow substitute Dani Olmo, and then sealed the 5-2 victory in added time with a close-range shot after a pass from Yamal.
Barcelona has just one more friendly remaining before their La Liga season kicks off, a Wednesday clash against Egyptian side Al-Ahly.
