It was gathered from sources that General Pype who performed the then unreleased single at one of the editions of the Industry Nite eventually sold off the song to Davido for over a million naira.

This was how it came to be a Davido record as well, using the same lyrics but adding his own background vocals and adlibs for his version.

Pype returned to the scene after a long hiatus releasing songs including 'The seed', 'All the loving' and 'Shop is open'  before then dropping 'Gbagbe Oshi' originally written by him.

The original version from the dancehall singer is said to be more enjoyable and authentic according to opinions from some quarters.
