As reported by A BOLA, AS Roma and FC Porto have re-entered negotiations for the transfer of Rodrigo Mora. A new deal structure could now pave the way for the move, though both clubs remain cautious. It's understood that the process is back on track and could be finalized within hours.

The two clubs halted talks last week after discussing a season-long loan for €10 million, coupled with a €40 million purchase option. However, the agreement fell through due to the individual and collective performance targets tied to the buy option: FC Porto sought more accessible conditions for its activation, which the Italian side did not agree to.

Despite this setback, discussions were never considered definitively over, merely postponed. Agent Jorge Mendes has been actively working to find a solution that satisfies André Villas-Boas. However, despite the prevailing optimism, the Italian club will only consider the deal complete once all documentation has been exchanged, given the recent instability in the process. FC Porto shares this sentiment, unwilling to lower their asking price for a player who is one of their academy's brightest talents.

Our newspaper understands that Roma is the only club in active negotiations for Rodrigo Mora. Rumours in Italy regarding potential interest from AC Milan are unfounded. The Roman club's determination to secure the player for Gasperini's squad meant that other options, such as Malick Fofana from Lyon, progressed no further than preliminary contacts without significant advancements.

Roma's Proposal
One avenue suggested by the Italians involves sealing the transfer with a €25 million payment, plus various bonuses and 50% of any future capital gain from a subsequent sale of the player. This capital gain clause would be nullified if, next year, the Italians proceed to purchase that half of the midfielder's economic rights for €25 million, thereby meeting FC Porto's €50 million valuation.

It remains to be seen which formula will allow Mora to move to Roma.

This proposal had already been discussed in last week's meeting, albeit with different bonuses. However, André Villas-Boas countered with a high-fee loan and a purchase option – the aforementioned €10M+€40M formula with clearly defined objectives – which the Romans rejected.
