Nemanja Nedović and his Monaco squad are battling for a EuroLeague playoff spot. During their recent road game against Panathinaikos in Athens for Round 34, the Serbian basketball player expressed regret over not staying longer with the Greek team, for whom he played from 2020 to 2022.

While it's true that during those two years, the Athenian club was struggling at the bottom of the European standings, Nedović now wishes he had continued his tenure there.

It's always special to play in Athens. I only have fond memories from my two years at Panathinaikos. Looking back, I'd say one of my biggest mistakes was leaving, especially seeing the team now, with the fans back in the arena. Things were different back then, but it's definitely always nice to return, and the fans always give me a warm welcome. Nemanja Nedović

At the time, the team wasn't competitive, which is never ideal for any player.

- It would have been better if I had played for Panathinaikos with a more competitive roster. When I signed my contract for a second season, I hoped the situation would improve, and that was one of the reasons I returned. It didn't happen, and I wasn't sure how things would pan out. Again, if I knew then what I know now, who knows what might have happened.

Popularly known as Neda, he's currently playing for Monaco, where the situation is critical. The principality's team is facing a financial crisis; for instance, they traveled to Athens to face Panathinaikos with only nine players.

It's definitely tough. It's a delicate situation with the number of players we have. Nikola Mirotić returned, but Thies didn't play. We can never take a break. We tried to capitalize on the good momentum we had after three wins in previous games, but Panathinaikos has a deep roster, with plenty of bench depth, and we couldn't keep up. We won three out of four quarters, but that second quarter really killed us (37:19). After that, it was very difficult to catch up. Nemanja Nedović

Panathinaikos defeated Monaco 107-97, with Nedović scoring 15 points.

In EuroLeague Round 35, Monaco will once again be on the road, this time playing against Dubai in Sarajevo.
