New Orleans Pelicans guard Tyreke Evans underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Tuesday, the NBA team announced but did not give a timetable for his return.

It is the second surgery on Evans' knee following an initial procedure in May. He complained of soreness on Friday, which led to team doctors assessing his knee.

Evans, who averaged 16.6 points, 6.6 assists and 5.3 rebounds in 2014-15, originally sat out during the Pelicans' first pre-season game due to a right knee contusion.

The 26-year-old appeared in two games on October 9 and 12, logging 24 minutes in each, but missed Saturday's game against the Sacramento Kings.

Evans' injury comes at a bad time for Pelicans, who are also missing Omer Asik and Alexis Ajinca, and Jrue Holiday beginning the season on a minutes limit.
