The San Antonio Spurs' 111-103 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 7 of the NBA Western Conference Finals last night confirmed that the New York Knicks and the Texas-based team will be the 2026 NBA finalists. The Finals are set to tip off on June 3rd, but one player has already secured a championship ring.
Jeremy Sochan, 22, is in his fourth NBA season. He was drafted by the Spurs in 2022 and remained with them until this season. After playing 22 games for the San Antonio squad, he was traded in February to... New York, where he now plays for the Knicks.
During the regular season, he posted modest averages of just 3.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per game. He featured in five of the Knicks' 14 playoff games and is now set to face his former team in the decisive series. Having played for both teams in the 2025/26 season, he has become the first player to guarantee he will be an NBA champion, regardless of the outcome.
