The historically significant museum will be open to the public on September, 24, 2016.
This museum is the first museum dedicated to African American history and culture in the U.S that is federal owned.
The museum had started collecting items since it was authorised in 2003, but the massive building itself has just been completed.

The grand opening where Barrack Obama is expected to be a speaker, will take place on Saturday.
As part of the events celebrating the opening, the Freedom Sounds: a Community Celebration will hold for three days.
The festival will commence on Friday, September 22, 2016 and run till Sunday, September 25.
Each day of the festival has a specific theme. The theme for Friday, September 23, is 'homecoming'; Saturday, September 23, is themed 'celebration', while the theme for Sunday, September 27, is 'call and response'.
Grammy award winner, Angelique Kidjo and many other stars of African and African-American superstars are expected to perform at the event.
