In Draymond Green's podcast, Anthony Davis vividly described the shock he experienced the night he learned he was traded from the Lakers to Dallas, in a blockbuster deal that brought Luka Dončić, Maxi Kleber, and Markieff Morris to Los Angeles. In addition to Davis, Dallas also acquired Max Christie and a first-round draft pick.

Davis admitted the news caught him completely off guard, learning about it just moments before it went public.

"I couldn't believe it. I kept asking myself – who am I being traded for?"

A call soon followed from Dallas, from then-general manager Nico Harrison, who has since been dismissed.

"They told me: 'I told you I'd come for you one day. I wanted you,'" Davis recounted.

"My heart sank"

However, the real shock came just minutes later when calls started pouring in from other players.

"I walk out of the kitchen, go upstairs, and Joel Embiid calls me. Why is Embiid calling me? I don't answer. Then another player calls... I go back to Shams' profile, and that's when I saw everything. My heart sank, like – what just happened? From a business perspective, I understand, but... why? I couldn't grasp it."

While acknowledging he understood the business side of the NBA, Davis didn't hide his disappointment with how the trade was handled, feeling he deserved more respect.

"I think I deserve a lot more respect. We won a championship... and I can't even get a call or a text to tell me what they're planning," Davis concluded.
