Switzerland's national team coach, Murat Yakin, expressed his satisfaction with his squad's performance following their 2-0 victory over Algeria in the World Cup Round of 16. According to Yakin, the "Crusaders" executed their tactical plan flawlessly and effectively neutralized the opponent's attacks.

Switzerland secured the win with an early goal from Breel Embolo and a second strike by Dan Ndoye immediately after the start of the second half. This triumph marks a historic achievement for the team, as it's their first knockout stage victory at a World Cup since 1938.

"We defended exceptionally well throughout the entire match, maintaining solidity at every moment. We gave the opponent no real chances," Yakin commented after the game. "I want to commend the entire team because they truly fought for this victory. I believe the goals came at crucial moments, and we fully deserve to advance to the next round of the tournament."

The Swiss defense operated almost flawlessly, forcing the Algerians to seek breakthroughs primarily down the flanks. This limited their opportunities to just a few chances in the first half, while the European side capitalized maximally on their attacking opportunities.

"Initially, we were under pressure, and our pressing wasn't working, but we managed to exploit the open spaces and break free several times. It was vital to score at the right moment – it was a shot with a bit of luck, but after that, we dominated the pitch. I'm very happy with the overall performance because we faced some very strong individual players," the Swiss coach added.

The 51-year-old coach stated he has no preference for his team's next opponent, who will be determined by the clash between Colombia and Ghana.

"There are no easy opponents. Everything for us needs to work perfectly – tactically, in terms of play, and also intensity. Every detail matters. For now, we are simply very happy with this moment and pleased to be moving forward. I am grateful to my staff, the players, and all the fans in Switzerland who woke up very early this morning," Yakin concluded.

Switzerland's next match in the Round of 16 will be played on July 7th at 11:00 PM Bulgarian time (4:00 PM ET) in Vancouver.
