Real Madrid's new head coach, José Mourinho, gave his first interview since returning to the club. He affirmed that his mission is to elevate everyone at the Bernabéu and that preparations for the upcoming season began long before his arrival in the Spanish capital today.
“Words aren't enough, because I see this as a mission. It's not about worrying about myself, or whether I'll win a lot or a little. I'm here to help everyone improve: the players, the coaches… I want to foster a culture of responsibility, ambition, and something I know well – the privilege of working for Real Madrid. I truly embrace this concept. It's not about working at Real Madrid, but working for Real Madrid. It's with this sense of mission that I am here.
We are working diligently. Not everything starts now, with my arrival today. We've been working hard with the club at various levels for a long time. Nowadays, you can work without being physically present, as technology greatly assists us. Today was essentially about coming here to 'check' on everything that's been done and what still needs to be accomplished.
I want to approach the next two weeks positively, because, of course, I'd love to have all the players here. We need to look at things optimistically. I'll get to know the lads I'll be working with, and I'll give them the opportunity to get to know me. During pre-season, many of these players will be here at the academy, and I also enjoy participating in and helping develop that area. We are here, and some world champions will be joining us. I have great confidence and deep affection for this club. Hala Madrid and nothing more,” Mourinho stated to the club's television channel.
