José Mourinho is already hitting the ground running. The new Real Madrid manager posted his first photo in the club's gear on social media, accompanied by a short but direct message: "Let's go." According to Marca, the 'Special One' arrives full of energy and eager to start working with his players.
The Portuguese coach, who landed in Madrid this morning, headed straight for the Valdebebas training complex. Mourinho will use the weekend to finalise preparations before the pre-season kicks off on Monday, July 13. On that date, the available players will return to training and have their first meeting with their new manager.
Real Madrid will begin their pre-season without the players who participated in the World Cup; they will join the squad at a later stage. Lunin, Trent, Asensio, Carreras, Huijsen, Camavinga, Gonzalo, and Mastantuono will be the only first-team players available to the Portuguese manager on Monday. Meanwhile, Militão, Mendy, and Rodrygo are continuing their recovery from serious injuries sustained in the final weeks of last season.
Although Mourinho will begin working with the team this Monday, his presentation as the new Real Madrid manager will have to wait. His official unveiling will take place after the conclusion of the World Cup.
