MotoGP will not return to Hungary in 2027, as the race weekend at the Balaton Park circuit proved highly unpopular with both fans and riders in the motorcycle Grand Prix world championship.
The Hungarian Grand Prix made its return to MotoGP after more than a 30-year absence, not at the Hungaroring, but at the much newer Balaton Park. However, the track was deemed too restrictive, and attendance fell far short of expectations during both of the championship's visits to Hungary in 2025 and 2026.
Due to these factors, the race will not be part of the 2027 calendar, which is set to be unveiled tomorrow at noon. MotoGP, however, emphasized that Hungary remains an important destination for the championship, and opportunities for future visits to the country are being explored.
"MotoGP can confirm that the Hungarian Grand Prix will not be part of the 2027 calendar. Nevertheless, Hungary remains an important destination for the championship, and the MotoGP Group remains committed to exploring future return opportunities in collaboration with the relevant authorities," read a brief statement from MotoGP.
