He made this known at the second plenary meeting of Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Sunday.

This isn't the first time he is speaking against gay marriage.

In August Most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama, reiterated that it was shameful, barbaric and madness on the part of those calling for same sex marriage.

He said the Bishops’ Forum in Nigeria had taken a stand to resist what he described as “un Godly and evil for anybody to abandon the standard of God as regards marriage.

He said the culture of same sex marriage was new to the Catholic faith, “so we are not in support and we are firm on our stand to renounce it”. The eminent cleric called on Christians in Nigeria to form the habit of reading the Bible and invest more in the religious life of their families.
