Morocco's rising star, Ayoub Bouadi, who impressed significantly with his performances at the tournament, took a philosophical view of their 2-0 quarter-final loss to France at the 2026 World Cup.

"From the start of the match, we knew we were up against a great team and it would be a tough game, requiring exceptional effort," the 18-year-old Lille player stated, as quoted by AFP. "This is football, and you can't always win. But this match will allow us to grow, to learn for future tournaments, and to refine certain details to go further," Bouadi added.

"We tried to impose our style of play; we had discussed everything with the coach, but matches aren't an exact science. Things don't always go as planned, and you have to adapt," the midfielder continued.

"They performed very well, and we have to accept that. We know we need to improve to come back stronger," Bouadi further commented, as Morocco is set to co-host the next World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal.

Ayoub Bouadi, born in France to Moroccan parents in 2027, has progressed through all of France's youth national teams, even captaining the French youth national squad until recently, before choosing to represent Morocco in May. "I have no regrets about choosing Morocco; I am very proud. I've always said it was a choice from the heart, and no matter what happens, we give our all for the jersey," Bouadi concluded.

The midfielder became the second-youngest player in history to feature in a World Cup quarter-final, a feat only surpassed by the legendary Pelé. Bouadi's performances have reportedly attracted the attention of English giants Manchester City and Manchester United, as well as Arsenal.
