Monaco have opened contract extension talks with the representatives of German forward Paris Brunner, according to French publication L'Équipe.

The youngster has emerged as Ligue 1's breakout star this season, bagging an impressive six goals in his opening seven appearances for the club.

Although Brunner's existing deal runs until the summer of 2028, Monaco's hierarchy are keen to tie him down for an extended period amid his soaring market value.

The striker's fine form has also carried over onto the international stage, where he netted a brace in Germany Under-21s' 4-0 victory over Lithuania.

Brunner is a product of Borussia Dortmund's youth academy, and while the Black and Yellows hold a buy-back option, they currently have no plans to activate it.

Monaco are set to face Bulgarian side CSKA in their opening UEFA Conference League group stage match, with the Ligue 1 outfit traveling to Sofia on October 15.
