Mind-Blowing Stats: Jokic’s historic dominance laid bare as Denver highlights absurd milestone pace
- Denver defeats New Orleans behind another Jokic triple-double
Jokic posted 21 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists in 34 minutes of action during Denver's victory over New Orleans. It marked his milestone 200th career triple-double, prompting the Nuggets to share an eye-opening statistical comparison on their official Instagram account.
Specifically, Jokic reached the 200-triple-double plateau in just his 814th career NBA game, while Westbrook required 1,175 appearances to hit the same mark.
That means Jokic achieved the landmark 361 games faster than Westbrook—the equivalent of roughly four and a half full NBA seasons fewer.
Now, it seems only a matter of time before Jokic catches and surpasses Westbrook to become the all-time triple-double leader.
How Denver defeated New Orleans
As for the game itself, the Nuggets led wire-to-wire after opening the scoring at 3-0. Denver dominated the first quarter, building a 19-point cushion after the opening 12 minutes (37-18). The Pelicans chipped away across the second and third periods, cutting the deficit to six heading into the final frame (79-73), but New Orleans lacked the firepower to complete the comeback as the Nuggets fended off the late surge to close out the victory.
Jamal Murray paced the winners with a team-high 23 points, while Christian Braun and Aaron Gordon added 15 apiece, with Gordon also pulling down 11 rebounds.
On the other side, Zion Williamson led all scorers with 25 points but received little support, as Jeremiah Fears and Derick Queen followed with just 11 points each.
With the win, Denver leveled its record at 2-2, while New Orleans remains winless on the season at 0-4.
The Nuggets are back on the court Friday night when they visit the Phoenix Suns, while the Pelicans host the Sacramento Kings a day earlier in continued home action.
