With George Russell's victory at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Mercedes has now surpassed Ferrari for the most wins by an engine manufacturer in Formula 1 history.
Yesterday's triumph for the Briton marked the 252nd win for cars powered by Mercedes engines in Formula 1. In contrast, Ferrari engines boast 251 victories, with 250 of those achieved by the Scuderia's factory team. The sole exception was Sebastian Vettel's win with Toro Rosso at the 2008 Italian Grand Prix.
Mercedes engine victories, however, are distributed among four different teams: Mercedes, McLaren, Brawn GP, and Racing Point. In some statistics, Sergio Pérez's win with Racing Point at the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix is listed separately because the Silverstone-based team's power units were branded as BWT Mercedes. However, it was fundamentally the same engine used by Mercedes and Williams.
