France captain Kylian Mbappé offered his initial thoughts to the media immediately following the 2-0 victory over Morocco in the World Cup quarter-finals. The forward commented on the performance of "Les Bleus" and reassured fans about the condition of his ankle after being substituted in the final minutes for Jean-Philippe Mateta:
"I'm fine, I took a knock to the ankle, but it's nothing serious. At that moment, Jean-Philippe was fresher than me to play the last 15 minutes. I came off, he came on and did well, even coming close to scoring," Mbappé began.
The French superstar emphasized that the team cannot afford to relax in the final stages of the World Cup.
"Mission? I don't know. There's no room for complacency. We still have a long way to go, what awaits us is even tougher, but now we will recover well," the Frenchman added.
He was also asked about the disappointment of his PSG teammate Achraf Hakimi after the final whistle.
"On the pitch, there are no emotions – I was here to win, he was also here to win. It will be harder in a bit in the locker room when I see him again, because he is a very close friend of mine," the forward concluded.
