MGM Grand sells out 15 minutes after mega fight is announced

Well, that was fast.

Fifteen minutes after Floyd Mayweather Jr announced via social media that he and Manny Paquiao agreed to fight at the MGM Grand on May 2, the rooms at the hotel sold out.

Before Mayweather made the announcement, there was already speculation that the fight would occur the first weekend in May.

Room prices at the hotel were up to $615 per day for both May 1 and May 2 before Mayweather's official announcement was made.

April 30 and May 1 have also sold out.

The MGM has a capacity for 17,000 people, and it is expected that thousands of spectators will travel to Las Vegas during the weekend of the fight and crowd other hotels in the area to watch the fight.
