Max Holloway Addresses Conor McGregor Fight Rumors

Rumors are swirling that Max Holloway is the ideal opponent for Conor McGregor's octagon return, with all signs pointing to UFC 329 on July 11th as the most likely date. The fight night, set to be the culmination of another International Fight Week, will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, though no main event has been announced yet. McGregor is planning his fighting comeback for the first time in five years, after breaking his leg in his third bout against Dustin Poirier in 2021.

While nothing is official yet, Holloway admits that McGregor would be a perfect rival for several reasons, not least of which is his desire to avenge the loss from their first encounter way back in 2013.

"I mean, we have history," Holloway told Paramount regarding a potential rematch against McGregor. "We fought a long time ago. I've told you, if someone has beaten me, I want to get that one back. I'd gladly face him again. There's a lot of talk about his return, and everyone is discussing how serious he actually is. It seems he's training and taking it seriously, wanting to come back and fight. That's exciting. He looks hungrier. He looks super hungry. He recently had a boxing exhibition match, so it was cool to see him. I would just like to get a win back. That's a huge fight. A big fight. Everything with Conor McGregor is huge, but to have history with that man and be able to get the win back would be great. I need to get revenge on one of those guys. If I can keep ticking them off the list, that would be great."

Of course, Holloway also has something to prove after his disappointing performance in his last fight, where he lost by a one-sided unanimous decision to Charles Oliveira, which also cost him the BMF title.

Holloway is eager to wash away the bad taste from that fight and can't imagine a better opponent than McGregor. However, Holloway states that he has not yet received an official contract from the UFC for the July fight night, although he is clearly ready and expecting it to happen.

"Maybe, we'll see what happens," Holloway said about a potential UFC 329 fight. "I see all the rumors you see. I haven't heard anything concrete yet, but it wouldn't be a bad time. They say you're only as good as your last fight, and we're going to make everyone forget about that one as soon as possible."
