From the opening seconds, it was clear Ruffi held a significant speed advantage. Chandler started aggressively, attempting an early takedown, but the Brazilian defended expertly and quickly escaped danger. Ruffi then gradually took control of the fight. The American struggled to find his range, and his nose began to bleed midway through the round.

One of Ruffi's spinning strikes severely rocked Chandler. The American attempted a takedown afterward, but Ruffi remained completely composed, systematically dismantling the veteran's defense. Following another combination and a subsequent spinning strike, Chandler collapsed to the canvas and absorbed several more blows before the referee immediately stopped the contest.

The end came at 4:29 of the first round, with Mauricio Ruffi declared the winner by knockout. After the fight, even President Donald Trump congratulated Ruffi on his impressive performance, and the Brazilian left the octagon as one of the most talked-about figures at UFC Freedom 250.
