Emerging from the Shrine of the Maskuraderz with a double single release 'Guard the Key' and 'Akula Reloaded', they are, once again, ready to storm. This Maskurade group from Jos-Plateau first featured in the Nigerian music scene in 1997 on the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack “Out of Bounds” featuring the Iconic and Nollywood legendary actor Richard Mofe-Damijo. The songs, 'The Truth and Never Retire (Pour Kerozine)' were radio hits that got their intriguing style of AfroRap music called Akula vibrating the Naija music scene.
An encounter with the Maskuraderz revealed that the double single release is set for Monday 9 June 2014. The album, 'E Be Like Silhouette Symphony', which will feature top Nigerian artistes will be on the streets in November 2014.
Akula is AfroRap, which has at its core a cross pollination of various music genres into a hybrid sound as dictated by our ancestors and heritage.
The Black Maskuraderz with a tripartite formation of Del – the Oracle, Pupah – the Informer and Black Chiff – the Preacher revealed that, in a typical masquerade fashion, a masquerade only comes out a few times in a season or when the people cry out. ………..And that time has come!
