«Seeing all the Portuguese fans upon arrival at the stadium, their strength and energy, it's spectacular. The players are calm, focused, and ready for a strong performance,» he told Sport TV. Martínez then addressed his starting XI choices, notably giving Rafael Leão his first start of this World Cup campaign.

«It's important for us to capitalize on Leão's current form and his ability in transitions. Croatia likes to dominate possession, and we can exploit that with our transitions. We need to maintain the defensive intensity we showed in the last game and build upon other aspects of our performance,» he explained.

Finally, Martínez acknowledged the significance of July 3rd, the day Diogo Jota and André Silva tragically died in a car accident: «Both teams enjoy having the ball. It's a very special game tactically and technically, but it's also very emotional for Portugal. The match kicks off on July 3rd, and we want to honor our Diogo and André during the game.»
