Marinakis Proactively Steps Down from Nottingham Forest Board

Nottingham Forest, the English Premier League club, has restructured its off-field operations to comply with UEFA's ownership regulations. This move comes as owner Evangelos Marinakis also heads Greek champions Olympiacos Piraeus, as reported today by "The Sun." The changes were implemented in anticipation of Nottingham Forest potentially qualifying for the Champions League as Europa League winners.

Given Marinakis's ownership of both clubs, dual ownership would fall under UEFA's restrictions. Olympiacos, the "Red-Whites" from Piraeus, are highly likely to finish first or second in the Greek league, making their participation in the Champions League a strong possibility.

Under UEFA's multi-club ownership rules, no team with directors holding "decisive" roles in more than one club can compete in the same competition. This regulation prompted the 58-year-old Greek billionaire to place his shares into a "blind trust" for the second consecutive year.
