It didn't take long for the English press to link several names to the Chelsea managerial hot seat for the 2026/27 season. Just hours after the club officially announced the dismissal of Liam Rosenior, whose tenure lasted a mere 23 games and 107 days, Marco Silva was immediately touted as a potential successor.

The Portuguese coach is in the final year of his contract with Fulham, currently sitting 12th in the Premier League, five points (with a game in hand) behind sixth-placed Brighton. He is reportedly keen to guide his team back into European competition this season, after five years at Craven Cottage.

According to the BBC, Silva is among the frontrunners, but faces stiff competition. Andoni Iraola, who has already confirmed his departure from Bournemouth at the end of the season, is also highly regarded by the Chelsea hierarchy. Meanwhile, Edin Terzic, the losing finalist with Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League, is the third name being circulated.

For now, Calum McFarlane will take over Rosenior's duties on an interim basis until the end of the season. The immediate focus remains on securing European qualification and winning the FA Cup. His debut will be the crucial semi-final clash against Leeds.
