Marc Marquez insisted after Friday practice ahead of the Malaysian Grand Prix that he is not paying much attention to the physical condition of his main MotoGP title rival, Jorge Martin.

The Aprilia rider suffered a fractured right wrist at Phillip Island last Saturday but was cleared to compete at Sepang. He managed 16 laps in total across the two Friday sessions and remained well off the pace, while Marquez topped the timesheets in both outings.

"Yeah, I don't really care. I'm in a position in the championship where everything depends on me, so I'm trying to get as close as possible to taking all 37 points," Marquez told reporters at Sepang. "We can see Ducati are also strong here with Alex (Marquez) and Fabio (Di Giannantonio), so we'll see how things play out. But it's only Friday. As we've seen at several tracks this season, including Assen and Mandalika, the picture can change over the weekend. That's why we have to stay calm. I'm focused on my own job, though of course I keep an eye on what the other riders are doing. I don't know if the fracture is complete or not, but if it is, he has already done more than he needed to," the reigning champion added.
