Marc Marquez insists he is not taking anything for granted in the MotoGP title fight, warning that there is still work to be done before celebrating an eighth premier-class world championship.

The Ducati rider claimed victory in yesterday's Malaysian Grand Prix, extending his lead over Jorge Martin to 44 points heading into the final three rounds. Marquez could wrap up the title as early as this Sunday in Qatar, provided the race at Lusail goes ahead as planned.

"It was my day and I wanted to make the most of it. I was super focused right from the start and took risks. This was more than just a win, but there is still work to do. This weekend, with Jorge absent, I knew I couldn't afford to give momentum to [Marco] Bezzecchi, especially with tracks coming up where he is very strong. From the first practice session, I was pushing every lap as if it were a time attack. I reached the limit early on and carried that through to the race. "The job is not done yet, though. I'm not going to fall into that trap in front of the microphones or start thinking that it's all over. I'll keep approaching it the same way because there are still races left. I have to stay focused," Marquez stated.
