Manchester United reportedly saved approximately £8.5 million following Rúben Amorim's appointment at AC Milan this summer, according to the club's financial report released earlier today. The Portuguese coach received nearly £8 million upon his departure from the Red Devils, a sum roughly half of the compensation the club paid to Erik ten Hag upon his dismissal in 2024.
According to the Red Devils' financial statements, the club initially projected a maximum of £16.7 million in compensation for Amorim and his staff after his January sacking. With the Portuguese manager now at AC Milan, Manchester United's financial burden has been halved by around £8.5 million. Upon Amorim's release, the club also accounted for £6.3 million in related write-offs and a provision for future payments.
In comparison, the separation from Ten Hag and his team in October 2024 cost Manchester United £14.5 million. The compensation for the Dutch specialist and his staff alone amounted to £10.4 million, with the remaining sum attributed to the departure of former sporting director Dan Ashworth, who was released shortly thereafter.
