Manchester City has finalized the transfer of winger Jeremy Monga from Leicester City. The young talent joins the Citizens for an initial £10 million, a fee that could rise with add-ons. Monga, who turned 17 on Friday, has signed a five-year contract with the club, keeping him at the Etihad until the summer of 2031. The England U19 international is the third-youngest player ever to feature in the Premier League and the second-youngest in Leicester's history. He made his top-flight debut against Newcastle United in April 2025, at just 15 years and 271 days old.
During the 2025/26 season, Monga made 30 appearances for the Foxes across all competitions, scoring one goal and providing two assists. In total, he has played 37 first-team matches for Leicester, with seven of those coming in the Premier League.
“When I found out Manchester City was interested in me, I immediately knew it was the right choice. For any young footballer, it’s a dream come true to join such an incredible club. This is the best team in England over the last 10 years. Furthermore, they give opportunities to academy players like Phil Foden and Nico O'Reilly, which shows there’s a clear pathway for development. It’s a privilege to be here, and I’m delighted to have joined,” Monga stated on City’s official club website.
Monga is the second summer signing for new head coach Enzo Maresca, following the £116 million acquisition of Elliott Anderson from Nottingham Forest.
City’s Sporting Director, Hugo Viana, also commented on the transfer: “Jeremy is an exciting player who has already made significant progress in his young career. As a club, we were already aware of his qualities and saw his abilities firsthand during his time at Leicester. At 17, we believe he will continue to develop, and this is the right next step for his career. We look forward to supporting him every step of the way,” Viana concluded.
