Manchester City have been found guilty on 114 of the 115 charges for breaching the Premier League's financial rules, according to The Athletic and other British media outlets. The decision was reached by the independent commission reviewing the case, which began with charges brought against the club in February 2023. However, a specific sanction has not yet been determined, and it is expected that the Etihad club will appeal the verdict.

The charges cover the period from the 2009/10 season to 2017/18 and include allegations of failing to provide accurate financial information, inaccurate reporting of player and manager remuneration, breaches of UEFA's financial regulations, and non-compliance with financial sustainability rules. Additionally, the club is accused of failing to cooperate with the Premier League's investigation. For years, representatives of the "Citizens" have denied all allegations, maintaining they possess evidence to support their defence.

The hearing before the independent commission lasted 12 weeks and concluded in December 2024, but the decision was delayed for nearly two years. Recently, even the FA chief executive acknowledged that the delay was excessive, creating uncertainty within the football system. The specific punishment to be imposed on the club remains to be seen, with recent reports suggesting all options are on the table. The most severe potential sanctions range from relegation to a lower division, which seems unlikely, to a points deduction, a financial penalty, and a transfer ban for a specified period. Once the sanction is announced, Manchester City is expected to exercise its right to appeal.
